Unraveling the Trail

A genuine by the sea Skyrunning adventure in the enchanting ‘playground’ of Finale Ligure, where technical trails, limestone cliffs, caves, and continuous glimpses of the sea create a mesmerizing backdrop. For runners of any level, it promises to be a sports journey through the history and culture of this ancient and glorious land.

Trail del Marchesato: a thrilling Trail Running Competition along the Ermano Fossati Path. Held on the first Sunday of March, it spans a challenging 60 Km route with a 3,000-meter elevation gain, or alternatively, a 38km track with a 2,200-meter ascent, or even a 16km course with 1,000 meters of elevation. This limestone-rich region has long been revered as one of Italy’s most breathtaking hubs for extreme outdoor pursuits like sport climbing, freeriding and downhill biking.

The carefully traced and meticulously planned trail perfectly captures the essence of mountain running, showcasing the area defining elements: steep ascents, technical descents, fixed-rope sections, plus an unprecedented passage through not one but three caves. The climactic finish within Finalborgo’s medieval castle adds a touch of enchantment. Catering to runners of all levels, it promises an inspiring athletic journey through the history and culture of this ancient and glorious land.
